How are Pork Tenderloin and Pork Loins Different?
There’s a few things to think about when making roast pork tenderloin vs pork loins. Don’t confuse these two cuts. They vary in size and thickness. So you’ll have to be flexible and adjust cooking times depending on the size of the pork.
- Tenderloins are thinner and more tender, thus the “tender”. They cook quicker than regular pork loins. They are usually also smaller, ranging from 1-2 pounds.
- Pork loins are thicker and often times more lean, thus resulting in a tougher cut of meat if you overcook it.
- Cooking times will vary greatly, particularly if you bought the tenderloin, which cooks much faster. So cook your loin roast longer if it’s large or thick. If you’re cooking with pork tenderloin, then the cooking times will be quicker.
- If you are unsure on how long to cook your roast, cook the pork loin until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F in its thickest part.

How to Roast Pork Tenderloin Recipe in Oven
- Try to bring your pork out of the fridge about 1 hour before cooking. Allowing the pork to slightly come to room temperature will allow the center to cook more evenly.
- Searing the outside of the pork tenderloin or pork loin on a hot skillet will help keep the juices in. Thus, a more tender center.
- Invest in a thermometer. This will allow you to monitor the internal temperature of the pork accurately.

I have made this several times. It is delicious. I highly recommend this recipe! Thank you for sharing!
My oldest will love this meal, can’t wait to make it for him!
this was excellent, and so easy to prepare. The tenderloin I purchased was already seasoned with cracked black peppercorns, so I did not add any extra. but I did everything else according to the recipe. I did not however, keep it in the oven as long as you recommended, I used my thermometer after minutes into the second go-round. When I saw it was at 150, I pulled it out of the oven and let it rest while I finished the rest of the meal. Tender, juicy, flavorful, just perfect! Thank you for posting this.
Can I pan sear this and then put it in the crockpot on low all day? I work and I’m afraid it would be late once I got this cooked.
Hi Diana, it should work fine and be extra tender when you get home. We’ll be sure to work on a crockpot version of this pork!
Can I pan sear this and then put it in the crock pot all day on low in the sauce? I work all day, so if I do this after work, we will be eating late
Yes, that should work fine!
Made this today. Will be my go to recipe for pork loin from now on!!
We eat this every two weeks. Even my picky eaters love it.
That’s awesome, so glad your family loves it!
Very tender. Nice flavor. Easy to make and I will make it again! I did find the sauce a bit greasy at the end with the oil and all the butter. It had good flavor though. Next time I think I will substitute the butter with chicken stock.
what other sauce can I use besides Worcestershire sauce? I unfortunately don’t have any right now
You can use soy sauce, it adds a nice savory flavor too.
