We have made this a few times now and love it! My only caution is to follow the directions carefully. The first time I did it wrong and the sauce was not thick so make sure to pay attention. Very tasty over rice or pasta!
I used heavy cream instead of water. Turned out so creamy, also added fresh baby spinach. So good. It was a hit with the family.
I made this recipe for dinner and subbed out the cream of chicken for cream of mushroom (bc the store was out) and it was INCREDIBLE. I also used chicken thighs instead of breasts. I highly recommend this meal for an easy dinner that’s super flavorful.
Can I use fresh spinach instead of broccoli?
Yes, you can! The spinach will cook super quick so as soon as it wilts in the sauce, it’s cooked.
I made this and it was so so good I used half and half instead .anyway thanks for the recipe
Just a quick question. It says to cook chicken for only 5 minutes…is this chicken raw or precooked? How can chicken only be cooked for 5 min? Thank you!!
Hi Jennifer! The chicken isn’t cooked in 5 minutes. The first initial 5 minutes of cooking is just for the browning and that’s 5 minutes on each side. After that, it cooks again for 10 minutes “or until cooked through”, depending on the size of your chicken breasts. So it’s cooking for at least 15 minutes.
Made this tonight but added my own little twists – since my hubby is terribly picky (thanks MIL for spoiling him so bad lol) I added cheese to the gravy. I also started out by chopping wedges of potatoes and pre-frying them half-way before adding the chicken. He won’t eat broccoli without cheese sauce and he won’t eat rice unless its fried rice or pasta with pasta sauce. This was so good he even came back for a second helping! Best part, the whole meal in one pan – got to love that! This recipe was a lifesaver for me – thanks!
This dish was absolutely delicious! First time making it and my parents who are picky loved it. Made it with rice pilaf but probably would make it with white rice next time. Also I would probably need another can of cream of chicken as the sauce just wasn’t enough since it was so yummy!
This turned out good and super easy to make!
This recipe looks delicious – I can’t wait to try it!
Can’t believe how simple and satisfying this recipe is! Hit the spot and the kids loved the chicken!
So glad the kiddos loved the recipe! Anytime they can eat broccoli and chicken, it’s a good thing.
Can you use bone in chicken thighs?
Yes, that would be extra delicious because the flavor of bone-in chicken thighs are fantastic.
Can I use chicken thighs instead of breast?
You bet. Should make it even better! Enjoy!
This is a very easy yet, delicious dish.
Thanks!
Can chicken and broccoli be frozen. If so how can long and what temperature to reheated ?
Hi Pam, we’ve never tried it frozen before. It should be thawed so the chicken can cook all the way through. If you try it frozen, let us know how it turned out!
This looks sooooo good! I love chicken and broccoli together in a dish! I think this will be a hit with my family!
