There are no rules to what this sauce should taste like, so customize the flavors to your personal taste. That’s the best part about making a homemade sauce. Add extra chili crisp or chili crunch for an extra kick of spice. The hot water helps dissolve the sugar, but if it isn’t hot, make sure to mix enough to dissolve the sugar.
Makes enough sauce for about 8-10 dumplings/potstickers. You can always make a bigger batch and store in the fridge to keep on hand. Keeps for at least a month stored in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar , black vinegar, or distilled white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sesame oil
  • 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) hot water
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) chili crisp/chili crunch , optional

Instructions 

  • Combine or whisk together all the sauce ingredients (1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 Tablespoon vinegar {rice vinegar, black vinegar, or distilled white vinegar}, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 Tablespoons hot water, minced garlic, 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, and optional 1 Tablespoon chili crisp).

  • Mix to completely dissolve sugar.
