Asian Pulled Pork Sliders
Our popular asian pulled pork recipe is always a favorite. Now we’ve taken this super juicy and tender pulled pork and made them into sliders. It seems like a natural fit to use some leftover pulled pork into pull apart sliders. All you need is some cheese and garlic parsley butter brushed on top of the slider rolls. It’s a perfect party dish that will be the hit at the party. Everyone will rave about how flavorful these pork sliders are. Guaranteed.
Best Pork for the Sliders?
Our recipes uses pork shoulder or pork butt. It’s a great combination of meat to fat ratio. The pork meat cooks tender and absorbs the marinade wonderfully. You can use other cuts with less fat like pork loin. But you might have to cook it longer because the meat has less fat and can be a little tougher and drier.
Can you use pre-bought pulled pork?
Yes, definitely. If you don’t have the 4-5 hours to cook this homemade pulled pork, no problem. There’s always a pre-cooked pulled pork that you can buy in the grocery store or at a deli. If you want, you can add more umami flavors like adding some soy sauce or fish sauce in the pre-cooked meat. Buying prepared pulled pork will definitely make these pull apart Asian sliders quicker to assemble and bake. Here’s a great video explaining different cuts of pork.

Tips for Making Pull Apart Asian Pulled Pork Sliders
- Cheese: use a good flavorful melting cheese. We love slices of smoked American cheddar, sharp cheddar, cheddar jack or smoked gouda.
- Add some spice to these sliders! You can add some slides of jalapeno inside the sliders. Or drizzle some hot on top of the meat then add the cheese on top.
- Use whatever rolls you prefer. Hawaiian rolls are great, so are brioche rolls, of course slider rolls are delicous and even regular dinner rolls make a great slider bun.
- Warm your meat a little first so that the sliders can heat all the way through faster. If your meat is cold, then the outside buns might burn before the meat is warmed.

Instructions
Make the Pulled Pork
- Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
- Add oil evenly to outside of pork shoulder and season all sides with salt and pepper. Heat large cast iron pan or deep oven proof skillet on medium-high heat. Sear each side of the pork shoulder on the hot pan until the pork is brown. About 3 minutes per side. Remove the pork from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same oven proof skillet, heat to medium heat. Add oil, onion and garlic. Cook onions and garlic until soft and fragrant. Add tomatoes, ginger, fish sauce, chili garlic sauce, mustard, brown sugar and black pepper. Stir together until well combined. Add the seared pork back into the skillet.
- Coat the seared pork with the sauce, ladling the tomato sauce mixture over to coat completely. Cover the pork with aluminum foil.
- Bake the pork for about 4 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork. Skim off any excess fat, then shred the pork in the sauce.
- If making ahead of time (it tastes even better the next day!), cover and keep in fridge until ready to make sliders. Re-warm slightly before making sliders.
Make the Sliders
- Preheat oven to 350°F (if you made the pork ahead of time). Coat a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Make Garlic Parsley Butter: Melt the butter with the garlic and minced parsley (can be done in the microwave or in a pan). Set aside.
- Cut the slider buns in half lengthwise. Place the bottom halves of the slider buns in the baking dish. Layer half of the cheese on the bottom buns.
- Top with the pulled pork, then layer with the remainder of the cheese. Place the top halves of the buns on top.
- Brush the tops of the buns with the melted garlic parsley butter.
- Bake until the cheese melts and everything is warmed through, 10-15 minutes. Serve warm.
