Favorite Cooks Tools step by step

Having a great kitchen tool in the kitchen is priceless! We get questions about our favorite tools in our recipe testing/development and what tools work best for some of our recipes. So finally we decided to keep a log and share a long list of what we use everyday in our recipe testing, cooking, photography and videos. Some are just basic and simple tools that make life just a bit easier and we couldn’t live without them. Theres a few other specialty products that aren’t just cool, but super useful to make our countless hours in the kitchen a little easier.

We’re obsessed with zucchini noodles and spiralizers!

Paderno Spiralizer – The Classic! We’ve lost track of how many meals this one has made for us. Fantastic spiralizer.
KitchenAid Spiralizer Attachment – Spiralize, peel, core, slice. All from the power of the KitchenAid stand mixer.
OXO Julienne Peeler – For those who love it simple. This great julienne peeler has seen a lot of mileage in our kitchen.

Love Quick or Slow and Easy cooking with Instant Pot and Slow Cookers:

The Crockpot 6qt. Slow Cooker – The original slow cooker. On this on the lid locks down which is great for transporting to potlucks and such. Simple, inexpensive and reliable.
Instant Pot Multi-use Pressure Cooker – It has cult-like following for a reason. It’s a pressure cooker and so much more. Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, & Yogurt Maker. It’s awesome! If  you want a pressure cooker that has a few more bells and whistles (like hands free steam release), this Breville Pressure Cooker is also great.
Cuisinart Multi-Cooker – If pressure cooking is a not your thing but want a bit more than just a slow cooker, this multi-cooker is perfect for you. It can Sauté, Steam, and Slow Cook. Perfect to create those one pot meals.

Knives: invest in a great set of knives and they’ll last for generations.

7-Piece Wusthof Walnut Block Set – The last set of knives you’ll ever need to buy.
8-inch Hollow Ground Wusthof Chef’s Knife – Stellar chef’s knife. Cook all day everyday with this great chef knife.
Ikon Classic Wusthof Pairing Knife – After our chef knives, these are the next most used tool in the kitchen. Love the feel, balance, and blades of the Wusthofs.

For all the Little Things – Funneling, Grating, & Zesting

Cuisipro 3-in-1 Funnel Set – Best set of funnels ever! Large size is perfect for canning. The medium fills peppercorns and such ideally. The small is perfect for spices. Airflow channels help prevent backing up too.
Box Grater  – Takes care of all your grating needs.
Microplane Zester – The zester which changed life in the kitchen. Zests the perfect fineness for citrus, ginger, hard cheese, etc.

Gifts for the Baker. Perfect Measurements and great Spatulas.

GIR Silicone Spatula – Tons of colors. Perfect balance between the stiffness and flex of the blades. GIR- Get It Right. They sure did!
Skinny GIR Silicone Spatula – Can’t seem to get into those narrow bottles. These skinny spatulas are perfect to get those last dregs. Tons of color options for every kitchen.

Kitchen Tools You Don’t Know How You Lived Without

NordicWare Stovetop Cast Aluminum Waffle Iron – After using this waffle maker, it changed forever how we make waffles. Cook the waffles directly over your cooktop in this little beauty. You control the everything in the cooking process. The recipes that come with the maker are awesome too!
Cuisinart Citrus Juicer – A good juicer is a tool of beauty. From fresh OJ to margaritas, juicers are priceless in a buys kitchen.
GreenPan Ceramic Non-stick Pans  –  From the pioneer in ceramic pans, a perfect scramble or a delicate fish, a great ceramic pan is priceless.

Noodle-ing, Grinding, & Stuffing. Here’s some of our favorites for making pasta, grinding meat, and stuffing sausage.

KitchenAid Pasta Roller Set  – Hand crank pasta rollers are great, but the KitchenAid stand mixer pasta attachment is awesome. Freeing up a hand to let the stand mixer do the turning, it makes homemade pasta a joy and breeze to make.
KitchenAid Meat Grinder – If you have a KitchenAid stand mixer, this will transform it into one of the best meat grinders for the money. We don’t like the sausage stuffer attachment, but as a grinder it does the job well.
LEM 5 lb. Sausage Stuffer  – The LEM stuffer is awesome! Has an air valve to release air out the top instead of into the stuffed sausage. Is super easy to setup and clean. Holds 5 pounds worth of meat which we’ve found to be ideal for the average house use. We’ve used many which made stuffing torturous. This one is makes stuffing fun and easy.
