The sweetness is dependent on the type of sparkling wine and your personal taste. A good starting point is a 1:3 (1 part Orange Juice, 3 parts Sparkling Wine) ratio, but if you want it a little less alcoholic or sweeter, increase the OJ ratio.Using freshly squeezed OJ is noticealy more delicious.
1oz.(30ml)fresh Orange Juice, chilled
3oz.(90ml)Sparkling Dry White Wine(Champagne, Cava, Prosecco, etc.) chilled
(optional) strawberries or other fun garnish
Pour the orange juice into the bottom of a champagne flute. Slowly pour in the sparkling white wine. Gently stir.
If desired, add garnish & serve.
Note 1: What Sparkling wine to Use:An expensive sparkling wine seems like a waste in a mimosa, but you'll still want a nice sparkling white wine. Drier sparkling wines are preferred, as the OJ adds a sweetness, and it is easy to quickly become too sweet.Cava & Prosecco often tend to have affordable price points & while still being of good quality. If using Champagne, Brut styles tend to go best.Always feel free to adjust the orange juice to sparkling white wine ratio to your preference.
